IPHOA Neighborhood Watch
On February 22nd, 2008, The
Indian Point Community Watch held its monthly
meeting. Osceola County Deputy Heath Yeager spoke to
the committee and residents in attendance. He stated
that of the recent AUTO and HOME burglaries, 90%
were caused by negligence on the part of the owner.
Doors and windows were left open on cars and homes.
Contents were left in full sight making it easy for
burglars to target.
Deputy heath Yeager made
some suggestions to help homeowners:
-
Please lock your car
& house door and windows. MAKE SURE YOUR CAR
WINDOWS ARE CLOSED.
-
Residents should
install home alarm systems. This should include
glass breakers sensors in all rooms.
-
Install screws in the
upper track of your sliding doors.
-
Robbers DO NOT like
noise, they will run. If attacked, MAKE NOISE.
-
If you do not have a
home and/or car alarm, you can still place signs on
them.
-
Trim all shrubs and
trees to no taller than two feet. Thieves can
use overgrown bushes as hiding spots.
-
Always close your
garage doors as soon as you pull in. Thieves can
sneak in as you pull in and you can be in a dangerous
situation.
KEEP
SAFE!!
